GEA Technika Cieplna in Poland celebrates its 20th anniversary

30. July 2014 The company GEA Technika Cieplna Sp. z o.o., located in Opole (Poland), celebrated its twentieth corporate anniversary in April of this year. A festive round of the plant in June, presented in the form of an educational tour, offered GEA colleagues, customers, and political representatives a view of advanced production in the Silesian region of Poland. Large monitors likewise showed vivid video sequences of production cycles.

The most important assemblies manufactured by GEA Technika Cieplna include special solutions especially in stainless steel heat exchangers – a unique selling point in Poland. GEA Technika Cieplna also produces steam and water heaters, GEA Economizers, fan air coolers and shell and tube heat exchangers. “Our systems are employed in a wide range of processes in the chemical and petrochemical industries, as well as in the energy sector,” explained Rafal Koszembar, Technical Director at GEA Technika Cieplna. “We have been particularly successful with our especially developed heat exchangers made of stainless steel.” The high production standard achieved in the Polish plant is further apparent in participation of the factory in the SOLHYCO and SOLUGAS research projects of the European Union. SOLHYCO is a solar hybrid experimental power plant in Almería, located in southern Spain, which can also be operated with diesel power. The SOLUGAS hybrid power plant, also an experimental facility, located in Seville (Spain), uses gas as its second source of energy. GEA Technika Cieplna is the only Polish company that is taking part in both projects. The company likewise plans to enter new markets with support from the GEA corporate group and on the basis of new technologies.

GEA Technika Cieplna was originally founded as a joint venture of the companies GEA Industriebeteiligungen and APC Metalchem S.A. Since 1998, GEA Technika Cieplna has strongly expanded as a subsidiary of GEA Group, after Metalchem was also integrated into GEA Heat Exchangers. Production 20 years ago began with five staff, who manufactured high-performance heat exchangers on a shop floor with approx. 1,000 m². Today, the company employs around 300 colleagues who work on approx. 14,400 m². Every year the plant produces 5,000 heat exchangers, which meet the ISO 9001:2008 complex of standard-setting stipulations. GEA Technika Cieplna production furthermore conforms with the regulations of a range of national and international standards that include TÜV Nord, ASME, UDT – Office of Technical Inspection, Lloyd’s Register, China Stamp, Det Norske Veritas, and Bureau Veritas. The portfolio of GEA Technika Cieplna is in demand not only within GEA Group, but also among outside customers in Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
