Industrial Engineer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drive and manage Continuous Improvement initiatives targeted at eliminating waste in the system with a focus on the operator’s interaction in the process through the use of TPS and other Lean tools.
• Moderate the plants Kaizen initiatives to instill collaboration between the departments and impart the Lean mindset.
• Attend Safety Committee meetings to provide engineering support
• Improve Ergonomics and Safety through Continuous Improvement initiatives in conjunction with the HSE Manager
• Update plant layouts to reflect current conditions
• Update SWIs to reflect current standards, with support from quality and other facilities.
• Ensure SWI training documents and Training matrix is up to date with routine audits
• Perform all other tasks as directed by management

COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS (knowledge, skills, and abilities)

• Experience in Lean Manufacturing, TPS, and Kaizen principals required
• Ability to effectively enlist needed cooperation from production employees in order to implement Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Ability to effectively work with consultants and other contract personnel
• Proficiency in Microsoft software and AutoCAD 2D
• Accurate attention to detail
• Ability to organize and prioritize
• Able to perform time and motion studies
• Ergonomic and Engineering Safety experience
• Experience with 5S/6S.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience required
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification, preferred
