Maintenance Technician

POSITION PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to provide aid to other departments and maintenance for the Knoxville facilities at the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. This position will be responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the facility and the day-to-day maintenance and repair of any items on the production line and additional needs to the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• General Maintenance of utility and electrical lines, air compressors and assist the supervisor in organizing the Maintenance schedule based on manufacturer’s recommendations and warranty requirements.
• General Maintenance of equipment and working with supervisor to establish the best course of action.
• Escalate issues preventing completion of all projects or assigned tasks to the supervisor
• Assist on minor electrical and plumbing needs for the manufacturing line. Any major renovation, the Maintenance person will be the coordinator of these items and any scheduled shutdowns. 
• Emergency repairs or assistance when equipment has issues on the manufacturing line.
• When needed, provide added training and assistance on the manufacturing line for any items that the person is knowledgeable on. i.e. Electrical testing, equipment operation and /or other applicable areas. 
• General Maintenance of the facility, i.e. lights, plumbing, and etc.
• Perform scheduled PMs to maintain equipment 
• Track material usage and equipment rentals to ensure that material and equipment is always maintained
• All other duties assigned

COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS (knowledge, skills and abilities)

• Proven mechanical and electrical abilities and must be willing to cross train to gain more experience in maintenance discipline to better service the facility and its equipment.
• Detail oriented to make and keep precise, accurate measurements.
• Logical-thinking skills
• Math skills
• Good communication, interpersonal and writing skills
• Able to keep record of time spent on projects and fill out all maintenance paperwork as needed.
• Able to maintain and keep track of company issued tools and equipment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience
• Minimum of 2 years working on machines and standard maintenance of machines
• Working knowledge of electrical and plumbing disciplines
