POSITION PURPOSE

The Production Supervisor directs product line operations ensuring the achievement of production schedules, maintaining on-time shipping, labor utilization, production reporting, and labor cost/overtime consistent with Kevion’s standards for on-time delivery, quality, and customer service. Performs all other duties assigned by production manager, as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead departments to achieve goals and ship orders on time according to the production schedule.
  • Will ensure jobs are prioritized and will ensure the floor can respond quickly to drop in orders or revised priorities.

  • Make, build, and assemble product in a timely manner.
  • Ensure materials are issued out of stock properly to all departments.
  • Work with Engineering Department to revise prints or report discrepancies on the Router or Bill of Material.

  • Ensure Preventative Maintenance (PM) is being performed routinely and 6S principles are implemented and performed routinely.
  • Insure all employees are on time and doing assigned work.
  • Ensure the correct parts are issued to the proper areas to insure timely completion of orders.
  • Establish and communicate priorities for the shift prior to start up.
  • Follow process control plans, routings, and work instructions.
  • Ensure departments are working according to IATF 16949 guidelines and work instructions.
  • Review employee’s timecards for accuracy and maintain attendance records.
  • Correct and administer discipline as needed for poor work performance, conduct, or attendance.
  • Work necessary hours to ensure proper support is given to departments.
  • Performs all activities in accordance with the IATF 16949 Quality Management System.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of the job.

 

COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS (knowledge, skills and abilities)

  • Ability to teach, train, and coach employees to fulfill their job duties in a safe and timely manner.
  • Ability delegating responsibilities and leading others.
  • Good analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to comprehend routings, bill of materials, and work instructions.
  • Ability supervising and forming effective teams (Kaizen experience a plus).
  • Basic computer skills.

  • Exhibit good interpersonal skills, team building, and leadership characteristics.
  • Ability to deal with change and respond quickly to a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to speak to a large group (5+) of employees.
  • Show attention to detail.
  • Prior exposure in a Lean-Manufacturing environment, preferred.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and a coach.
  • Knowledge of Syteline or other MRP systems, a plus.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)

  • Prior leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED (further education preferred)
  • Proven ability to manage people and set schedules.
