Summary:  Coordinate all shop service activities with objectives to promote, maintain and continually improve processes, employee relations, employee safety, protection of facility assets, product quality, and on time delivery of products.  This position is responsible for successfully managing all shop service and repair orders to ensure service orders are executed to Kelvion quality standards and customer commitments and expectations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

  • Employee Safety – Protect, Promote, and Improve.
  • Have a working knowledge of heat transfer equipment; specifically, heat exchangers used in all Industrial, Food, HVAC/R, and Marine industries.
  • Supervise Shop Service Technicians and other employees by providing direction and training, and communicating company policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Administers company safety program. Includes performing safety audits when necessary and stressing the importance of safety to all employees
  • Provide leadership and vision to the organization by assisting with the development of long range and annual plans, and with the evaluation and reporting of progress on plans.
  • Maintains accurate records of all service, pricing, sales, and activity reports.
  • Provides technical input to staff on the scope of work and materials needed to repair or service work. Includes calculating labor and material costs
  • Maintains strong familiarity of company products and reviewing factory equipment updates and supplier goods.
  • Specifically, support management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned including:
    • Product Quality – Meet Customer Expectations, Reduce Cost of Quality
    • On Time Delivery - Meet Customer Expectations, Reduce Cycle Times

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements.

 

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

  • Perform receiving and product inspections
    • When performing duties related to product inspection:
      • Perform plate inspections as required.
      • Performs NDT inspections as required.
      • Inspects manufactured first piece, in-process, last piece, roving, etc. per the inspection forms.

    • When performing duties related to receiving inspection:
      • Verify Goods Receipt is correct in accordance with quantity and part number.
      • Match Material Test Reports (MTR’s) to the proper piece and verify heat code.
      • Verify MTR to the corresponding ASME guideline and either approve or hold non-compliant product. 
      • Perform required inspections on received material and record all relevant inspection data on the associated forms and/or prints
      • Scan and file material certs received from the suppliers.
      • Transact items in SAP inventory

  • Coordinate resources needed to gasket and stack plates in accordance to the flow diagram.
  • Coordinate resources to punch GPHE plates in accordance to the flow diagram, set up test frames and pressure test plate packs upon customer request, to fabricate tie rods, shrouds, and other parts when needed, and to sandblast and paint GPHE parts as required in order to meet specific customer demand accurately and in a timely matter.                                                                                                                                            
  • Maintain aftermarket inventory accuracy through cycle counting.
  • Pull, prepare, package, and ensure correct shipment of all Shop Service orders in order to meet customers various and pressing demands.
  • Be on-call and available to respond to customer emergencies that may arise in order to meet the demands of our customers  
  • Process shipments and schedule order pick-ups to ensure on time delivery
  • Create BOL for truck freights in order to ship orders to the customer.
  • Actively interface with Production Planning/Buying to ensure accurate and timely scheduling and procuring of needed parts and materials.  Follow up on orders to ensure deadlines are met and information regarding order status is being relayed to customers. 
  • Lead and perform material planning activities from raw materials to finished goods in response to customer demand, frequently requiring quick turnaround.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required
  • 5 years of heat exchanger service execution experience
  • Team Building
  • Computer Competent in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Email, SAP
  • Budgeting

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to comprehend quality work instructions, correspondence, and memos in English.  Ability to read in and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.  Ability to ask leading questions to stimulate self and others in developing alternatives. Must have the ability to work well with others as well as have the interpersonal communication skills to train team members on current operating procedures and defined company standards.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic shop math.   Ability to accurately measure and to translate between decimal and fractional forms.  Ability to effectively use a calculator or computer to perform more involved calculations of multiplication, division, etc.  Ability to reason logically and develop both practical and creative solutions to problems

 

REASONING ABILITY

Analytical problem-solving and decision-making ability.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to reason logically and develop both practical and creative solutions to problems.  Ability to provide diplomacy.  Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.  Must easily adapt to changing situations.

Employee will be working in a manufacturing area and customer’s environments, which has moving mechanical equipment and vibration, Employee must be able to work in wet or humid condition, work in high, precarious place, hazards associated with fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and employee will work in extreme heat, hazards associated with risk of electrical shock.
