Compact and flat – the GEA AT picco air handling unit with 90% heat recovery

12. marzo 2015 <i>picco</i> is a full-capacity air handling unit intended for installation above suspended ceilings, in walls, or in floors. It is characterized by especially flat and compact dimensions.

These units, equipped with a high-efficiency counterflow heat exchanger, are designed for air flow up to 2,400 m³/h. They already satisfy the criteria of the Ecodesign Directive that will go into effect on January 1, 2016. A choice of three unit cross-sections and two installation heights (355 and 455 mm), as well as the modular design of the series, enable flexible and individual selection of output capacity. The new counterflow heat exchanger in the climate control version provides for heat recovery of up to more than 90 %. The heat recovery unit has an integrated bypass that serves for anti-icing protection for outdoor temperatures below -4 °C. This is possible by routing part of the outside air around the heat exchanger and directly into the stream of supply air. The bypass module is further subdivided to simplify installation and service work. A full-face heater and cooler, as well as variable-speed EC fans, assure great surface-area efficiency and low pressure drop with the GEA ATpicco. A stainless steel drip tray, sloping on all sides, is also integrated into this module. The filter module is designed in panel form to optimize unit lengths.
