GEA hires 9 new trainees: GEA supports a new generation of staff from its own ranks
08. 09. 2008 On 8 August, GEA, at its Air Treatment location in Herne, welcomed 9 new trainees to the company. Two young ladies will be qualified as industrial sales representative. The young men will pass through a dual course of studies toward a Bachelor’s Degree.
Classical training or dual programme of studies?
Programmes for the classical training professions last 3 to 3.5 years. The program to achieve qualification as industrial sales representative can be enhanced by adding international orientation in English or French. For those who are technically interested, GEA offers the following specialized fields of study: technical drafting, industrial mechanical engineering, welding technology, and mechatronic engineering.
The special feature of the 3 dual study programmes being offered – Bachelor of Engineering/Industrial Engineering, Bachelor of Science/Management and Computer Science, and Bachelor of Arts/Business Administration – is the systematic networking of theory and practice. Caroline Masquelier explains, “Our external educational affiliate – the Emsland Professional Academy in Lingen, Germany, teaches scientific concepts, models, and methods in a ten-week academy phase. During the practical phases, which last at least twelve weeks, the students can implement at GEA the knowledge gained.” In addition, it is possible to take examinations in each of the training professions, as administered by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, or by the Trades Guilds. For more information, see www.ba-emsland.de.
Both training forms offer qualified English courses, including an examination with internationally recognized linguistic certification, as well as foreign internship. Masquelier continues, “For an internationally active company, tolerance and respect for foreign cultures are just as important as fully satisfactory English. Our trainees must be able to look beyond the ends of their noses.”
Those interested in a trainee position for 2009 can contact Caroline Masquelier, and can apply until 31 October 2008 at: GEA Air Treatment GmbH, Koordination Ausbildungsverbund, Attn.: Caroline Masquelier, Suedstrasse 48, 44625 Herne, Germany (details by phone under 00 49 2325 468 478).
