On 1 October 1909 the engineer August Keller and the businessman Hans Wittemeier laid the foundation stone for a success story involving filter solutions:  in their founding of the company “Deutsche Luftfilter-Baugesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung” (Delbag). Since then, the name Delbag has come to stand for filter media and systems that assure clean and dust-free air.

Increasing industrialization enabled the company to grow at breathtaking speed. The automotive industry, as well as countless other industrial sectors, applied filters from Delbag. Over its dramatic history, one element remained constant:  the urge to innovation. In equipping its research laboratories, even NASA has placed its trust in the filter and ventilation expertise of Delbag.

Since 1990 Delbag has belonged to the GEA Group, which has placed the activities of supply- and exhaust-air filtration on an autonomous basis. As a result, GEA Delbag Lufttechnik GmbH has become a synonym for protection of workplaces and the environment. The sales company GEA Delbag-Luftfilter Vertriebsgesellschaft, at the same time, specializes in filters whose applications also include GEA air handling equipment. Overall, the Delbag filter classes now available extend from coarse G1 filters up to U15 applications, in which even microscopically small particles are extracted – with good applicability for clean rooms as well.

Present signs all point to growth. The most recent important acquisition was the company Deichmann Umwelttechnik, which produces dust-extraction for industrial sectors such as mining, construction materials, and food and beverages. The GEA spectrum now covers everything:  from a handy air filter to dust-extraction systems as large as a multi-story building.
