GEA has expanded the product family of its successful parallel-plate separator 2H TUBEdek® – and places key emphasis here on a maximum of diversity to make sewage processes even more cost effective. At the IFAT ENTSORGA 2012 in Munich, the company – the technologically leading manufacturer of plastic fill media for biological fixed-bed systems and sedimentation plants – presents the new lamella separator as Type FS41.62. This new lamella clarifier closes the gap between the proven models FS41.50 and FS41.84. With a larger sedimentation area than in the FS41.84 – but, at the same time, with a greater lamella pitch than in the FS41.50 – sewage treatment plants for medium-size sludge volume can be designed with smaller dimensions and, in turn, at appreciably lower cost.

In the design of lamella sedimentation tanks, a compromise is always necessary between capacity and effective sludge removal. Increase of performance by decreased lamella pitch and larger sedimentation area carries the risk that excessive sludge volume may create clogging. A larger lamella pitch however may reduce the performance. This is a conflict for which GEA now offers the ideal solution with its new Type FS41.62 tube settler. GEA has precisely balanced out the ratio of lamella pitch to performance, which accordingly enables the optimal sedimentation process.

The 2H TUBEdek® lamella clarifiers can be used anywhere in sewage processing and water treatment where solids must be highly efficiently removed in a small plant space. It is especially in drinking-water treatment plants that the 2H TUBEdek® product range reliably removes the solids and assures reliable operation of the downflow filter systems. The global application and reputation of 2H TUBEdek® is based on its special manufacturing techniques, which assure installation of operationally reliable and stable water-treatment systems – even in the most remote areas.
