Explore and admire engineering at GEA open house: with cycling on the GEA Goedhart Delta Tour to benefit the charity Duchenne Parent Project

Press Release

04. September 2013 GEA Goedhart employees, their relatives, as well as anyone else interested in technology, are cordially invited to attend the GEA open house to be held at GEA Goedhart, in Sint-Maartensdijk (Netherlands), on September 7, 2013. At its open house, GEA Goedhart, manufacturer of industrial air coolers, will organize family bicycle rides and athletic biking as part of its GEA Goedhart Delta Tour. Any proceeds from the open house will be donated to the Dutch charity Duchenne Parent Project.

The GEA Goedhart air cooler factory will have open house for visitors on September 7, 2013.

On Saturday, September 7, 2013, visitors are welcome to explore on their own the modern air cooler factory of GEA Goedhart in Sint Maartensdijk and experience at first hand the production of air coolers. Employees will show visitors how an air cooler is designed and built. The most interesting machines will be demonstrated in operation: for example, welding robots, fin presses, and production equipment at the Plate Work Center.

Young people can gain interesting information on learning professions and on training opportunities. Technet Tholen (www.technettholen.nl) will also be at the open house: it is an association for the promo-tion of technical professions in Tholen (Netherlands) and its vicinity. While the adult visitors to the open house are guided on tours, there will of course be attractions and surprises for the children.

The other highlights of the day will be the organized cycling tours. Tour 1 (with a family-friendly distance of 30 km) leads through the Dutch island of Tholen. In addition, visitors can also select three longer ath-letic tours of 80, 125, or 160 km, along the Zeeland Bridge and Oosterschelde¬kering. The longest tour leads through a detour to the seaside resort of Renesse. All routes will return at the latest by 5:30 p.m. to the departure point.

During planning of the GEA Goedhart Delta tour, a young boy in a family associated with GEA Goedhart was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This gave us the idea to link these cycle tours with a charitable cause. The entry fee collected on the tours will be donated to the charity Duchenne Parent Project (www.duchenne.nl), which specializes in supporting families whose children suffer from this type of muscular disease. It also promotes further research into this illness and its therapy by medication.
