GEA at Power-Gen Europe 2013

Press Release

29. April 2013 On the occasion of the congress and trade fair Power-Gen Europe, held in Vienna from June 4 to 6, 2013, GEA at stand B3270 in Hall B will present its portfolio of heat exchange solutions for employment in power plants. GEA highlights for Power-Gen this year include the following:

CLEANdek KV619 – plastic fill pack solutions (insensitive to fouling) for wet cooling towers
The new GEA 2H CLEANdek KV619 is a new plastic fill pack for use in counterflow cooling towers. The optimized micro-structure of its surface assures formation of optimal water film, which enhances the cooling effect.  An additional feature of the new KV 619 is optimized solids discharge at low pressure drops. The special surface geometry will minimize clogging and fouling for most water qualities.

GEA EMCR – modular compact radiators for diesel power plants
As part of its further development of equipment models, GEA has optimized the mechanical design of its compact radiators in the EMCR range (energy modular compact radiators) for use in cooling diesel-engine power plants. Thanks to their modular design, these coolers are available on short notice in various models and lengths, and with single or double banks. The largest models achieve particularly low power consumption. A particularly quiet version is available as an option.

Adiabatic coolers reduce size and total weight
If high outdoor temperatures are expected only on a few days of the year, GEA adiabatic coolers are an effective solution. On extremely hot days, their evaporative cooling supports the desired effects. Since the adiabatic system goes into operation only on a temporary basis, water consumption is low. The advantage of this hybrid principle: the output for dry cooling does not need to orient itself to the possible maximum temperatures – which means that the cooling system can be designed smaller and more cost effective.

Industrial Dry coolers: further enhancement of model diversity
To ensure even more exact matching of industrial air coolers to their respective requirements, GEA has expanded its portfolio in this area. In addition to new cooler types, there are now new fin geometry solutions for the heat exchangers. Heat exchangers are available in various models and materials. The selection of fans is also greater, with the option now of obtaining EC motors for quiet, variable-speed operation.
