Leading by efficiency
05. June 2012 GEA Heat Exchangers is featuring no less than four innovations for heat exchangers and thermal separation engineering at Achema 2012.
The Achema is the world's most important leading exhibition for the process and chemical industry. This year GEA Heat Exchangers is exhibiting three energy-efficient innovations in Frankfurt (Hall 4, Stand F 44): The GEABloc fully welded plate heat exchanger with innovative Double Dimple plates to ensure free flow particularly of high-viscosity media, the GEA 2H MASSdek® Series structured plastic packings for efficient gas scrubbing and the GEA "Groovy Cooling" air cooler – rounding off the wide and diverse range of heat exchanging and mass transfer solutions for the process industry.
With its new MASSdek Series GEA is introducing an optimum energy-saving solution for thermal and chemical separation applications. The MASSdek packings have been specially developed for use in gas scrubbing, exhaust air cleaning, rectification and desorption and feature low specific pressure losses coupled with maximum separation efficiency and are therefore clearly superior to conventional random packings. The newly developed packing type comprises special plastic compounds processed to form profile-shaped foils, guaranteeing high-efficiency mass transfer – also for use in removing volatile components from groundwater or in biological exhaust air cleaning.
The GEABloc is a fully welded high-performance plate heat exchanger designed for extreme pressure and temperature ranges. The units feature high heat recovery rates, extremely low space requirements and a clearly lower price compared to conventional shell-and-tube heat exchangers. At the Achema GEA is exhibiting its "fully welded flagship for the chemical industry" with Double Dimple plates. The innovative plate design guarantees both free flow particularly for high-viscosity media and low pressure loss for use as a condenser in the vacuum range, thus reducing operating costs in the long term.
The GEA "Groovy Fin Cooling" air cooler with its patented fin design is highly effective. Due to the innovative shape the "slipstream" behind the finned tubes can be clearly reduced, enabling efficiency increases of up to 25%. This means that less surface area is required in the design of the air cooler, resulting in clearly reduced investment costs.
The gasketed GEA NH 350 heat exchanger which was specifically developed for the process industry is designed for high pressure levels of up to 36 bar and therefore guarantees more safety within the system. The pressure-resistant NH 350 - H stands for “High Pressure“ – is based on the well-established NT series and can be equipped with plates of three different lengths (S, M, L) as needed. The NH 350 features optimised gasket and plate design. High pressure resistance can be achieved even with thin plates.
In addition, GEA Heat Exchangers will be also represented at ACHEMA by its Double-Tube Safety Heat Exchangers, Transformer Oil Cooling, Cooling Tower Technology and Air-Cooled Condenser business sectors.
