13. June 2012 GEA exhibits modular compact radiators for diesel-fired power stations at Power-Gen Europe 2012. These units are extremely robust, highly efficient thanks to the high cooling capacity, and the compact modular design makes it easy to tailor the units optimally to meet process requirements. The special technical feature of the GEA Ergé Spirale & Soramat compact radiators is the predetermined range of components to guarantee fast delivery times and minimize production costs, causing a sustainable reduction in investment costs for the customer. At Power Gen Europe GEA Heat Exchangers exhibits high-performance heat exchangers specially suited for cooling diesel-fired power stations and designed for high cooling requirements of more than 2.5 MW.
Diesel power stations guarantee reliable power supply in remote regions, where they are the power station of choice due to their reliability. Self-sufficient diesel power stations are particularly popular in Eastern Europe, Africa and on the Arabian Peninsula. Regions where extreme weather conditions are prevalent and where the demands placed on the installed equipment are correspondingly high. Reliable, robust, simple to install, making them both durable and efficient. These are demands that all air-cooled compact radiators from GEA meet to guarantee perfect cooling results even in the middle of the desert.
For example in Mabruk, one of Libya's largest oil fields. The power station there has horizontally assembled compact radiators with AIMg fins that feature high resistance to abrasion and corrosion and that can even withstand sandstorms. The horizontal design allows for either single-circuit or double-circuit arrangement and offers the maximum degree of installation flexibility. GEA offers the compact radiators in two widths, in over sixty lengths and with a comprehensive range of tube bundle features. Motors and fans in this compact heat exchanger unit can be freely selected, meaning that the heat exchangers can be perfectly customized to match every individual application – and this is combined with the use of standardized components to guarantee short delivery times and ensure quick and easy replacement during any maintenance.
The cylindrical manifolds and the tube bundle are made of copper. The cooling fins can be supplied in aluminium, marine aluminium or copper with epoxy or PoluAl coatings. For applications calling for particularly low noise emissions or energy consumption, extra-large fans driven by gears, V-belts or drive pulleys can be installed. It is also possible to install forced-air designs as well as bay configurations where two adjacent tube bundles are cooled using two flange-mounted fans, forming the perfect cooling solution for diesel power plants.
