GEA Heat Exchangers delivers air-cooled condensers for a power plant in Iraq

Press Release

22. October 2013 GEA Heat Exchangers has won an order for two air-cooled condensers (ACCs). The customer is Capital City Investment B.V., a subsidiary of Enka Insaat ve Sanayi A.S., which is headquartered in Istanbul. The scope of the order includes the planning and delivery of the systems for the Mass Global combined cycle power plant in Sulaymaniyah in Iraq. Completion testing of these ACC units is planned for September of 2015. In addition to satisfaction of quality criteria, a prime factor in winning the order was the assured short lead time for delivery.

Owing to the lack of water in this region, dry cooling systems represent the ideal solution there: power plants equipped in this manner can operate with a minimum of water consumption. The condensers will condense the turbine steam of the power plant to allow re-use of the resulting condensate as feed water.
