Global leader

Wärtsilä Gas Solution Norway AS is a global leader in manufacturing innovative technologies in the marine and energy markets. It focuses on sustainability and is at the forefront in the transition towards a renewable energy future.

As a long-standing customer, the company knew it could rely on Kelvion to supply cooling equipment for its new bio-LNG terminal. The plant will liquefy biogas extracted from cow dung. This process involves heating the gas up from -162ºC.

Kelvion is supplying five dry coolers which will be used to reject residual heat. The customised units offer ‘free cooling’ - when the ambient air is cold, it can be used for cooling. As a result, the fans work less, reducing energy consumption.

Close co-operation
“Wärtsilä Gas Solution Norway AS required a turnkey delivery, with direct contact with the manufacturer,” said Franz Löhrke, Director Service Operations Northern Europe. “We were only too happy to oblige as we continue our long-standing partnership. As the customer was unsure when they would be ready to receive delivery, we agreed to supply the coolers rather spontaneously. All part of the service.”

Pascal Guyomar, Sourcing and Tendering Manager from Wärtsilä Gas Solution Norway AS, said: “Biofuel plants are an important part of our business as we develop greener energy solutions. We take pride in providing innovative systems and therefore it’s crucial that any equipment we buy has sustainable credentials. Kelvion is a supplier we can trust to provide energy saving equipment that meets all our requirements.”

The result
Once delivered and installed, the coolers will start operating in the second quarter of 2024.
