Rigorous safety standards
Nuclear plants must comply with rigorous standards on equipment reliability and safety, especially for critical back-up systems such as EDGs. The challenge was to find a cooling solution that would enable the generators to operate fully, even under extreme conditions. 

But, in addition to meeting strict quality and safety requirements, the cooling system needed to be compact enough to fit within a confined space and align with sustainability goals by supporting energy efficiency and reducing emissions.

Kelvion’s solution
Using their thermal management expertise, our engineers provided a customised air-cooled condenser designed specifically for the EDG system. The solution features an optimised footprint to maximise space efficiency in a confined installation area. Its high-performance cooling capability ensures rapid heat dissipation and maintains the generator’s water temperature within the required operational range.

The result
The successful implementation of the air-cooled condenser at the nuclear power plant in western China marks another milestone in our partnership with this customer and plans for future collaborations are already in discussion.
