AMT Kältetechnik GmbH

Air coolers pass the air flow simulation test. When AMT Kȁltetechnik needed to install a new chassis dynamometer at an Institute of Technology to simulate the air flow behavior of vehicles, they commissioned air coolers from Kelvion.

AMT Kältetechnik GmbH
AMT Kältetechnik GmbH specializes in planning, maintaining, servicing and installing commercial and industrial cooling systems, cooling equipment and/or air-conditioning systems. A manufacturer of automotive test benches assigned AMT to install a chassis dynamometer capable of simulating air flow of cars up to the size of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

Rising to the challenge
In designing, delivering and installing two air coolers for the test bench, Kelvion faced significant challenges. The available space was limited both by size and strict specifications. The air cooler had to be able to operate in a temperature range between -30 °C and +60°C, which required sophisticated moisture regulation. In addition, the air performance also had to be increased. The volume flow had to be 20% stronger than the simulated air flow of up to 150 km/h from the air flow fan.

Custom-made for maximum performance and minimal space
Our specialists delivered and installed two large air coolers from the Goedhart PLK product range, each with a 1.1 km2 cooling surface, between mid-2018 and 2019. The coils (Cu/AL), with a housing made out of sendzimir galvanized sheet steel, were custom-made according to the limited space conditions and installed above each other, together with a defrost flap and external compression.

The result
The new system has been running successfully since May 2019 much to the delight of a very satisfied customer.
