Promote worksite or product safety by applying knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, and psychology, industrial health, and safety laws by performing the following duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Inspect facilities, machinery, safety equipment or products to identify and recommend corrective action for potential
- Investigate the cause of industrial accidents or injuries.
- Direct the installation of safety devices.
- Create new or review existing employee safety programs and recommend improvements.
- Promotes worksite or product safety and health for the well-being of employees and customers.
- Determines safe limits of exposure to materials or conditions, such as temperatures, noise, dust, fumes, vapors, mist, gases, solvents, and radiation that are known or suspected of being real or potential detriment to health, by conducting surveys.
- Implements or recommendations for control measures.
- Directs workers engaged in field and laboratory verification of compliance with health regulations.
- Provides technical guidance to management and government agencies.
- Plan and coordinate health programs requiring application of engineering, and psychological principles and technology to analyze and control conditions contributing to occupational hazards and illnesses.
- Performs additional functions incidental to safety activities.
- Regular attendance, ability to arrive at work punctually, ability to work on–site.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others, ability to deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, other employees, managers, and executive management.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to interchange with others in the department

REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)
- Knowledge of Occupational health and safety regulations (e.g. OSHA, ISO 9000)
- Knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures.
- Knowledge of incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of safety management systems and environmental systems.
- Skill in developing, implementing, and monitoring HSE programs and policies.
- Skill in preparing technical reports, audits, and compliance reports.
- Skill in interpreting technical data, safety regulations, and engineering drawings.
- Skill in using risk assessment and safety management tools and software.
- Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
- Ability to lead incident investigations and provide preventative recommendations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities under deadlines.
- Ability to train, mentor, and coach others in safety practices.
- Ability to stay updated on regulatory changes and emerging safety technologies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)
Bachelor’s degree required in engineering (e.g., safety, chemical, mechanical, systems) or master’s degree in EHS related field with CSP certification. Five years’ minimum experience as a HSE Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
