Before commissioning or during maintenance intervals, leakage tests play an important role in a life of a heat exchanger and thus in a smooth and reliable plant operation. It verifies the tightness and safety and therefore detects possible leaks which can occur due to fouling, corrosion, erosion, damage, etc.
A leakage test ensures that no fluid can escape or mix between circuits, preventing equipment damage, efficiency loss, environmental harm, and safety risks.
Leakage detectors in double-tube systems monitor the space between the inner and outer tube. If the inner tube leaks, fluid enters this gap and is picked up by sensors—such as pressure or conductivity detectors—which trigger an immediate alarm to prevent cross-contamination and equipment damage.
