In 2001, the bioenergy company installed two 210-plate Kelvion gasketed plate heat exchangers (PHE) at its production sites in Spain. These units have been instrumental in the bioethanol production process, cooling the slurry after liquefaction and prior to fermentation. The long-term performance of these PHEs is a testament to their reliability and efficiency in a demanding industrial environment.
Over the years, the Spanish bioethanol producer regularly ordered new gaskets and in 2020 approached Kelvion for an upgrade, requesting new plate packs for their existing units. Although the original range of plate heat exchangers was no longer in production, Kelvion provided the necessary spare parts, including gaskets, to keep the units operating efficiently. This approach was in line with our customer’s commitment to minimise CO₂ emissions by avoiding the need for full unit replacements. Instead, Kelvion focused on servicing and maintaining the existing equipment to ensure continued optimum performance.
Kelvion's service goes beyond the supply of spare parts. Our team provides fast response times and personalised customer service. The bioenergy company can rely on Kelvion for next day spare parts delivery when required, and our technical expertise ensures that the older PHEs are well maintained, even as they exceed 20 years of service. The continued success of these units has strengthened the long-standing relationship between the two companies.
"Our long-standing relationship with this Spanish bioethanol producer is a perfect example of how we work closely with our customers to extend the life of their equipment and provide sustainable and cost-effective solutions," says Haline Gorisch, Sales at Kelvion. "By providing spare parts for equipment that has been in operation for over 20 years, we are helping our customers avoid unnecessary emissions and ensure the continued efficiency of their processes."
