The Role
Supervises and coordinates activities of Field Superintendents. Conducts material inspections at construction sites and fabricating facilities. Assists in project estimates and schedule development while performing the following duties:
What you will be responsible for:
- Construction Oversight: Is familiar with all GPC approved drawings and installation/operating and maintenance manuals for the project. Ensure Kelvion drawings and installation/storage/startup instructions are strictly adhered to. Oversee, on a daily basis, all construction activities, field testing (NDE and performance) and commissioning of equipment, by erection subcontractor(s). Act as construction liaison between the site (customer) and GPC Director of Field Operations. Maintain construction schedules as required. Maintain authority on site and discipline/terminate any subcontractor's worker not performing as expected, disrupting work or other workers, etc.
- Compliance/Quality: Ensure erection subcontractors maintain the quality necessary as dictated by GEA-PCS and the specifications, in order to provide customer satisfaction. Perform inspections and complete checklists at various stages of construction, including completed reports, as necessary, to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
- Reports/Records: Generate, maintain and file specified reports as required for various phases of project construction. This information to be used in maintaining a project history as well as bidding similar future projects. Keep accurate records and reports and maintain same on a regular basis (including daily project reports, change orders, non-conformance reports, material receiving reports, accident reports, checklists

- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, decision making, negotiation, adaptability, planning and organizing, and teamwork. Experience in the cooling tower industry a plus.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Experience with Microsoft Project.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
TRAVEL
- Travel required up to 30% of time.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
- Minimum of 10 years experience (to include supervisory, inspection and coordination responsibilities) in related activities with power plant and industrial equipment construction and repair including mechanical equipment, piping and structures
- Competence in the reading and interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications
PREFERRED:
- Bachelor of Science degree with emphasis in mechanical, civil or construction engineering or equivalent years of experience.
- Experience as a construction field design engineer or supervisor, maintenance supervisor for power plant or similar facility; specific experience in scheduling and quality assurance inspections
