Électricité de France SA (EDF) is the world’s second largest electricity supplier, providing electricity for about 40 million customers and employing around 158,000 people.
Lower consumption and higher efficiency During a 10-day-shutdown of a nuclear power plant, EDF wanted a Transformer Oil Air Cooler (TOAC) installation to be upgraded. It involved installing new e-fans with lower electrical consumption and lower noise levels and changing the air flow direction of the heat air flow-recirculation to make it more efficient. Stainless steel filters were mounted and, finally, mobile support for simplified cleaning was implemented. EDF subcontractors had to be coordinated, the oil cooler bundles had to be cleaned, the scaffolding installed and equipment, such as the fire extinction system, uninstalled to gain access to the TOAC installation.
The result The project was a great success: Kelvion got the job done within less than ten days. And: “EDF was extremely happy not only with the result but also with the way we worked,” said our Service manager. “They pointed out that we are an outstanding service provider that worked safely and highly professionally. Also they were impressed with our perfect planning and our close attention to the communication with EDF.”
