Princeton University is committed to energy-efficient operations as part of its broader sustainability initiative. As such, its Facilities Organization sought to run the university’s central cooling system more efficiently and economically.
Kelvion’s NT350L met the challenge A waterside economizer would allow the chillers to be turned off during the cooler months, saving energy and costs. The challenge was to find a product that could meet Princeton’s unique water quality requirements. Kelvion proposed a NT350 gasketed plate heat exchanger with a higher grade of stainless steel. Efficiency and performance excellence The Facilities staff at Princeton care about efficiency and performance. The NT350 performs as a waterside economizer. When the outside ambient conditions reach the desired range, the customer can turn off the chillers, using less electricity and reducing the energy costs. The heat from the central loop then bypasses the chiller and passes through the heat exchanger via the customer’s cooling towers.
