The Lead Material Handler is responsible for coordinating and supervising daily material handling operations within the warehouse and production areas. This role ensures accurate inventory movement, efficient staging of materials, and adherence to safety and quality standards. The Lead also mentors team members and collaborates with cross-functional departments to support production schedules and logistics goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Supervise material handling staff and assign tasks to meet operational targets
- Coordinate the movement of raw materials, components, and finished goods between warehouse and production areas
- Ensure accurate inventory tracking through cycle counts, audits, and ERP system updates
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely and train others in proper usage
- Monitor material flow to prevent shortages or bottlenecks in production
- Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for damage, accuracy, and compliance with documentation
- Maintain 5S standards and cleanliness in warehouse and staging areas
- Collaborate with production, shipping, and procurement teams to support manufacturing schedules
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure team compliance with company policies
Support continuous improvement initiatives and suggest process enhancements

REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)
- Forklift certification required; additional equipment certifications a plus
- Familiarity with ERP or warehouse management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)
- High school diploma or GED
- 3–5 years of experience in material handling or warehouse operations
- Prior leadership or team lead experience in a manufacturing setting
